Hello. It's been a long time since I've even looked at Deviantart!!! :S I've now relocated from Wales to my home county of Somerset. It's taken a while to find a new house and get everything set up! But now I am doing my illustration full time.

As always I am busier on my other social sites, if you would prefer to follow me there:

I've been pretty secretive with this alien girl piece as my mum watches my facebook page and it's a present for her 50th birthday on Sunday. So if you want a sneak peak for what I have been up to I have been updating my Instagram regularly and on Twitter. Here is my a web link through to my Instagram page:web.stagram.com/n/natashahutto… and my twitter username is natasha_hutton

I'll post the final image on Sunday once my mum has had a chance to unwrap it!

I've just finished moving house to a whole new county, which has been completely hectic. I haven't been able to draw in that time, but now that I am settled I have already started a new piece. I'm going to be updating my facebook, blog and twitter regularly now, and I've also just signed up for Instagram. My username is natashahuttonart.

I'm happy to be back!

Hello everyone.
for
It's definitely been a while since I've updated my journal! I've been AWOL for quite sometime and I'm sorry. Work has been absolutely chaos and both mine and my partner's mental health has suffered. We've now handed in notice are moving to Wales soon.

This does mean that I now have some time on my hands to slowly easy my way back into drawing. There is quite a bit that I want to draw, but I'm so out of practice I know it won;t turn out like I want it. I also want to give back to this community and offer up some free female OC requests. DA has always been a place of inspiration for me, and the chat rooms have always been a fun and friendly place.

Here is a link to the Forum post offering my free requests: forum.deviantart.com/community… It says all the rules etc. I'm also saving up for a premium account so anything you can donate one I have done your request would be very much appreciated!
These are the requests I have accepted off of my forum post so far:
  • Watching: Castle Series 4
  • Playing: Picross
  • Eating: Cadbury's Marvellous Creations
  • Drinking: Tea
Just to say that I update more frequently on what I am upto and WIP shots on my facebook page. So if you are interested in seeing that kind of stuff head on over there and say hi!

Things have been pretty hectic lately! My workload at my job has just exploded as we are launching several new products very soon. :S I also came down with a viral stomach bug which has me vomiting non stop for 18 hours, and I'm still not at my best. Deviantart has kept me going, a steady steam of favourites and comments and some AMAZING work in my watch list has motivated me to return to my studio desk.

I'm going to start small, a few pieces that have been in my head but that I don't want to spend too much time on. And then return to the Edwardian girls piece. I'm also going to do a collaboration with Jenni Sparks, check out her work here: jennisparks.com/. ANNNNND I've just started the Weight Watchers diet to finally lose weight, I've lost 9lbs so far (quite proud of myself) my first goal is 5% of my weight, which is 1stone, and I'm almost there!!!

So all in all... I'm alright. Update to follow later in the week! How is everyone else by the way? Enjoying the olympics?

I'm currently working on a new piece that is based around Edwardian costume and wild flowers. I'm trying to push myself with each piece so in this one I'm doing the most detailing I have EVER done, and including two figures in one piece. If you would like to see some work in progress shots follow the natashahutton.blogspot.co.uk/2… to my blog.

I am also quite intrigued by livestream and have been watching quite a few artists on there recently. I'm just wondering whether any of my watchers would be interested in me setting up a livestream to watch me work? If I get enough interest I'll go for it!

Ok so I thought that my newest piece 'Poppy' would make a good t-shirt design so I have put it up on Threadless in the hopes that it gets printed. So it would be lovely if you could take a couple of minutes to vote and comment on my design. Here's the www.threadless.com/submission/… support is greatly appreciated! :tighthug:

I'm currently sketching out my next piece, I really don't know what I want to do next. I have so many ideas that I want to do, they are just all screaming to be put down on paper. I'm just going to have to work through them all methodically. So my next piece should be up by the end of March/beginning of April.

This year I want to be a lot more active with my artwork than what I have previously been. Trying to find a job has taken a lot of time and drive away from me doing my art, but this year I'm not going to let it affect me. At the moment I am working on a prize, which is severely late (sorry Poppy), and after that there are several things I want to achieve. Here are my goals for this year:

:star: Submit more work to Threadless and hopefully have a design printed.

:star: Enter at least 5 competitions this year.

:star: Work on my backgrounds.

:star: Do a themed series.

I think that if I manage to achieve all of these this year I will be very happy. I want to be able to move on with my work this year and be able to look at the work I did last year and see an improvement.

What are your goals for this year?

I'm still open for commissions as well:

I've recently created a t-shirt design from my 'Margot' piece on Threadless, and it would be amazing if all of my watchers could vote and comment for me here: www.threadless.com/submission/…

Thankyou

I'm currently working my hardest to find an actual job. It has been 6 months since I finished my degree, and I have still not been able to find a job! :( So as this is taking up most of my time I have lacked on the art side of my life, and for that I am sorry.

I do have several art goals this year, and one of the major ones is to actually post more often, even if I haven't done any 'proper' artwork. To at least keep everyone up to date as to whether I am still alive, and to show a few sketches along the way. I also will be updating my blog regularly as well, so if you don't already follow it, here is the natashahutton.blogspot.com/

I will be uploading my newest artwork in the next few minutes as well, based on stereotypes, and on the fact that I wanted to do something off the bat that would loosen up my fingers again.

I'm looking forward to this year!!!

Well the Imaginary Beings exhibition went well, I had a lot of fun at the open evening and it was nice to see everyone's contribution to the theme. Once the exhibition has finished I will post the scans, but if you want to see photographs of the artwork and some of my lovely mug infront of my work then visit my facebook page here: www.facebook.com/natashahutton…

So what am I upto at the moment? I have nothing going on officially art wise so I taking some time to do some bits and pieces that I have always wanted to do. Such as the hipster girl stereotype (if you're interested the WIP artwork is on my blog natashahutton.blogspot.com/201… ) My boyfriend also would like me to do some artwork for his graphic novel...which I am very excited about. I am also thinking that during the lull I need to keep myself busy. So I am thinking of once a month of picking a watcher at random and drawing one of their OC's in my own style, as a thankyou for all the support. So comment below if you want to be put into the draw, which will take place 9th November

So what is everyone else upto? :happybounce:

As the title suggests I am taking part in a charity exhibition on the 8th October in Plymouth. So if you happen to be around I highly suggest you come take a gander. The theme is imaginary beings so there will be art, music and performances all based around this theme. The exhibition is to raise money for War Child.

Here is the facebook event page: www.facebook.com/event.php?eid…

And if you haven't already here is my facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/Natasha…

So for this exhibition I am fully embracing the Imaginary Beings concept and have been reading 'The Book of IMAGINARY BEINGS' by Jorge Luis Borges. A very interesting book and I recommend it. So soon I will be uploading Valkyries, mermaids, Lamias and swan maidens. Watch this space :D

I'm still open for commissions as well.

So that leaves me extremely poor, so if any of my watchers would like to commission me that would be greatly appreciated :tighthug:

I'm currently making necklaces with my artwork in them, along with some keyrings as well. I'm doing it as an experiment at the moment really, but if they turn out looking good I do plan on selling them.

I was just wondering whether there is any interest out there in the idea of my work on pendants?

Well I've just culled a load of my work from my main gallery and moved most of it to my scraps and others into their relevant folders. I just felt like the work I did 5 years ago, when I was 15-16, just doesn't represent me any more. I've gone way past the manga I used to do and moved onto my own style. I'm not saying that starting off doing manga is bad... infact I wouldn't be at the level I am without it. It helped to feed my style and interests today. I just needed to move it out of my gallery because it is not a good representation of me, but they'll always be in my scraps to show myself and other artists where I have come from.

I'm currently doing my final major project at University at the moment. ARGH. It is such a nightmare and very stressful, and it's extremely scary to think that come July I'll be in the real world :S. I'm doing my final major on the chinese zodiac and the research into it has been amazing and hopefully I will come out with a decent body of work.

So because of me stepping into the real world, I will be opening an etsy shop and a website. The shop will be full of bookmarks, hair pins, badges, prints, keyrings etc. So that should be exciting to see what kind of reception that gets. AAAAAAAAnnnnnnnnnnd....Would any of my watchers be interested, come the summer time, commissioning me? I have no idea what I will charge yet but I need to get the ball rolling as soon as I leave University so I dont have time to go stale and mouldy.
